A wonderful battle for a great, immense, amazing and even unthinkable result: Matteo Ingratta’s Igor Volley Trecate hits a historic promotion, the second for Agil Volley (the first dates back to 23 years ago) and snatches the ticket for the A2 series. To cheer for the Igorine and to rejoice with them the libero Stefania Sansonna!

It ends 3-2 (22-25; 25-15; 25-14; 26-28; 15-2) game 2 of the final against Ares Flv Cerignola at the Palabasket Nando Di Leo, but it is a very sweet defeat: the 3-1 first leg meant that the Igorine had to win two sets to triumph.

The Igorine, after a fraction of the game won in a comeback and after suffering great performances from the hosts, had the patience to maintain concentration and determination: an entirely Under 19 group, which first of all faced Covid at the beginning of the season and which has grown a lot over time.

Ingratta deploys Frigerio and Costantini in the center, Bolzonetti and Orlandi spikers, Badalamenti opposite, Tellone free and Picchi in the direction immediately replaced for an ankle problem by Bartolucci.

It is immediately the atmosphere of a match of the highest level (7-7), the hosts try to put the arrow and take it to 19-13, the Igorine are patient and set the draw at 19-19; the battle resumes point to point, Igorine on 21-23 and it’s a home break. At the resumption the race of the Trecatesi does not stop and they take it to 21-24 and close 22-25.

With their backs to the wall, Cerignola starts very strong (6-2), the Igorine struggle to find solutions in attack and on the other hand the hosts do not make any more mistakes (18-10). The Igorine try to put aside points (19-12), but the hosts soon close on 25-15.

The music does not change in the third set (4-1 and then 11-5). Ingratta’s Igorine sew up at 12-8, but Cerignola knows well that it needs to run to extend the challenge to the maximum and so it is fixed on 17-10 and then 25-14.

Heartbeat and emotions a thousand in the fourth set, which begins point to point (3-3). After two fractions chasing it is the Igorine who now put the arrow (7-10) with Cerignola to keep hooked (11-11). It is a continuous back-and-forth that passes through 15-15, 18-18 and 21-20. The hosts sign the 24-21, the Igorine still have patience and build a partial mni of 0-3 that completely reopens the games (24-24) and indeed they are the ones who conquer the first advantage (24-25). On the other hand, Cerignola is good at canceling two match balls, but after an out attack that is worth 26-27, Igor Volley definitively closes the accounts and gets on the podium of the A2 (26-28). The fifth and final set serves only to close the match (15-2): it is a celebration for the Trecatesi.

And yet here we are: many athletes faced Covid right at the beginning of the championship, it took time to get back in shape, many games were played, the thought of school with the high school exam, the commitment in the Under 19 championship: all wonderful. For me it’s a bit like going back a few years and the emotions are always very strong. It is a result that is good for the whole Agil Volley company, but more generally for the volleyball environment: a team made up of Under 19 athletes and even younger won, I hope that this can be a strong and important message for all insiders, clubs that work well within the youth sector by enhancing their athletes can achieve great satisfaction».
