The new libero of Igor Volley arrives from Veneto: it is Eleonora Fersino, born in 2000, originally from Chioggia and already protagonist of three seasons in the top flight. Raised in the Pool Piave, she arrived at a very young age in Conegliano where she played the 2018-2020 seasons, winning a Scudetto, a Club World Cup, two Super Cups and an Italian Cup, acting as Monica De Gennaro’s “deputy”. In the last season he had his first experience as a starter in Bergamo, performing well to the point of earning a call-up to the senior national team.
For her, who will be joined in the role by the blue flag Stefania Sansonna, a two-year contract in the Igor jersey, expiring in June 2023.
Enrico Marchioni (general manager Igor Gorgonzola Novara): “Eleonora had the opportunity to already live an important training experience in Conegliano, working in a prestigious and ambitious club and also beginning to experience the “pressures” that accompany the activity of a great club. The move to Bergamo, in the last season, gave her the opportunity to experience a season as a starter, which she did by showing off the level and continuity of her performances, despite her very young age. This path will also continue in Novara where I am sure he will best collect an important legacy like that of Stefania. I am convinced that he can still grow a lot by working with Stefano and thus contribute to the achievement of what will be our goals”.
Eleonora Fersino (libero Igor Gorgonzola Novara): “I am very enthusiastic and excited for next season and for the beginning of my adventure in Novara, which I will live with a great desire to work and get involved. I have crossed Novara as an opponent several times and I have always had the impression of a very gritty and combative team, competitive and with precise and ambitious goals. Experiencing the Pala Igor as a protagonist will represent a great responsibility but also a great opportunity to improve and grow, both on a sporting and personal level. I will give my best to repay the club’s trust and I will also treasure the experience I am living with the national team, which I am sure will help me face my next Novara challenge.”
