In the setting of Palazzo Chigi in Rome, an exceptional event for the world of Italian women’s volleyball took place. On Thursday 4 April, at 11 am, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni welcomed a delegation from the Igor Gorgonzola Novara, Reale Mutua Fenera Chieri, Imoco Volley Conegliano and Allianz Vero Volley Milano clubs, together with the Women’s Serie A Volleyball League. The reason for this meeting lies in the extraordinary triumph of the Italian teams in the 2023-24 volleyball season, which will be remembered as an epic year for the Women’s Serie A Volleyball League, in which Italian teams won all three CEV trophies. The President of the League, Mauro Fabris, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for the honor conferred and underlined the importance of Italian teams as examples of excellence and success in the international sports scene.
The event was made even more significant by the presence of the Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi, the President of FIPAV Giuseppe Manfredi and the President of CONI Giovanni Malagò, who accompanied a representation of the athletes and managers of the winning teams. This meeting was a moment of celebration for Italian volleyball and highlighted the fundamental role that the teams and the Women’s Serie A Volleyball League play in national and international sport.
